Dr Joe Manu-Aduening is a product of Adisadel College Cape Coast and a Principal Research Scientist at the Crops Research Institute of CSIR. He has Bsc (Hons) in Agriculture (KNUST), MSc. (Agronomy), University of Nottingham, UK and Ph.D (Plant Breeding), University of Greenwich, U.K.

His is currently the Deputy Director and Head of Cassava Programme. 

His research activities include development and dissemination of superior cassava cultivars for Ghanaian farmers. In 2010, he led a team of researchers to release four high yielding cassava varieties tolerant to the African Cassava Mosaic Disease and in March 2015, he again led a team of researchers to release six high yielding cassava varieties purposely developed to serve local food and processing markets.

He also taught as part-time lecturer at KNUST in 2011/2012 academic year and in 2014/2015 academic year at the University of Education, Winneba, Mampong Campus. He is an external examiner for Post Graduate Studies, University of Ghana

He has provided consultancy services for Africa Seed Trade (2010) and CARE International (2011). 

He is the West African representative of the International Society for Tropical Root Crops-African Branch (ISTRC-AB) and a member of African Crop Science Society and Ghana Science Association. He was a member of the Ghana team which negotiated for funding from World Bank in Washington for WAAPP phase 2 in 2012. 

He has published 20 research articles in high reputed journals and over 20 articles under various workshop proceeding. He has mentored a number of young research scientists within and outside CSIR on Applied Research in Agriculture.
